My DevFest 2025 Experience 🚀
An inspiring day of innovation, learning, and community.
Yesterday, I had the opportunity to attend DevFest GDG (Google Developer Groups) Chennai 2025 — and what a day it was! With nearly 1,000 attendees filling the venue, the energy was contagious. The crowd was a balanced mix of working professionals, students, and startup founders, all connected by a shared curiosity for technology and innovation.
From the moment I stepped in, the atmosphere felt electric — swags, stickers, sponsor booths, and people eagerly exchanging ideas. It was more than just another tech conference; it was a celebration of the developer community.
🎤 Opening Keynote & Our AI-Powered Talk
The day kicked off with an insightful keynote by a Googler and a GDG community leader, who spoke about the evolution of AI — from early experimentation to today’s agentic systems and multimodal models.
Following that, our company had the privilege to take the stage with a special talk on “The Journey of AI-Powered Commerce.”
We shared how we’re using AI to enhance product discovery, personalization, and customer experience in real-world commerce applications. It was an incredible feeling to represent our team and contribute to the event as a Gold Sponsor.
💡 The Four Tracks: AI, Web, Apps, and Cloud
DevFest Chennai featured four major tracks — AI, Web, Apps, and Cloud — each packed with rich content, expert-led sessions, and hands-on demos. I jumped between a few of them to catch diverse perspectives.
Some sessions that stood out to me:
Deep-dive into Multimodal Models (VLMs) and how they process vision + language together.
A technical session on the Local-First Approach in Web Development — a reminder that great UX often starts with great offline design.
A fascinating exploration of Memory in Agentic AI, connecting cognitive science concepts to real-world agent design.
Practical demo on how to Deploy MCP (Model Context Protocol) on Google Cloud Run.
Each speaker brought something unique — not just technical depth, but stories of experiments, failures, and creative breakthroughs.
🧠 Workshops, Panels, and Demos
Apart from talks, there were hands-on workshops on topics like MCP, AI Cloud Deployment, and App Modernization — perfect for those who learn best by doing.
The panel discussions were another highlight. Industry leaders and founders from Chennai’s leading AI startups shared candid insights on scaling products, building ethical AI systems, and navigating the fast-evolving ecosystem of AI-driven businesses.
One recurring theme across sessions was clear — AI is not just a trend anymore; it’s becoming infrastructure.
💼 Our Stall and Community Engagement
As part of our sponsorship, we also set up a stall for hiring and networking. It was great to interact with developers, share about our ongoing projects, and connect with potential candidates and collaborators.
Many attendees showed interest in our AI initiatives and asked thoughtful questions about architecture, deployment, and real-world impact. It was a reminder that the Chennai tech community is both curious and ambitious — eager to learn, build, and contribute.
☕ Networking, Conversations & Goodies
Beyond the formal sessions, some of the best moments came from hallway conversations — chatting with developers over coffee.
Of course, the goodies, stickers, and sponsor gifts were fun bonuses — a small but cheerful reminder of how vibrant and generous the tech community can be.
🙌 A Big Shoutout to GDG Chennai
The planning and execution of the event were exceptional. Everything — from registration to track management and session transitions — was smooth and well-structured. The volunteers and organizers clearly went the extra mile to make the experience memorable for everyone.
Events like DevFest remind me why community matters so much in tech. It’s where ideas are shared, collaborations begin, and inspiration multiplies.
